No framework.
No playbook.
Just real talk.

Sometimes you don't need a six-step program. You need someone who's actually lived a non-linear life and will tell you what they honestly think.

"The most interesting paths rarely go in a straight line."
Career pivots Expat life Tech & product Life direction Just figuring it out

I didn't plan any of this.
That's kind of the point.

I've spent 15 years in tech, crossed disciplines more times than I can count, and at some point packed up and moved abroad. Not because I had it figured out. Because I was curious, a little restless, and willing to find out.

Along the way I've built products, led teams, worked for big companies and small ones, and had more than a few moments of "what am I actually doing." The non-linear path gives you a certain perspective, and people seem to find it useful.

Mentoring has been part of how I work for as long as I can remember. Informally with colleagues, more formally through structured programs, and increasingly with people who just find me and reach out. I've never had a system for it. I just show up, listen, and say what I think. Somehow that keeps being enough.

I'm not a therapist. I don't have a framework. What I have is a lot of lived experience, a decent instinct for where people are stuck, and a willingness to be straight with them.

For what it's worth, I still work in tech. This isn't a reinvention. It's just that helping people think through things has always been part of how I work, and at some point it made sense to make it official.

How it works

Three ways to work together.

Pick what fits. No packages, no commitments, no upsells.

01

One conversation

You have something specific on your mind a decision, a situation, a fork in the road. We talk it through. No prep required, no follow-up expected. Just a focused hour with someone who'll be honest with you.

02

Ongoing sessions

Navigating something bigger a career pivot, a life change, a move abroad. We meet regularly, work through it as it evolves. No fixed program. We go where the conversation needs to go.

03

A gut check

You don't need a full session. You just need a quick outside perspective from someone who will be straight with you. Shorter, sharper, no fluff.

This is not
coaching.
Not really.
No frameworks or models

No wheel of life, no GROW model, no 90-day program. Just a conversation that goes where it needs to go.

No polished success narrative

I'm not going to pretend I had a plan. The zigzag is the point and it's why I can actually help.

No pretension

Think of it as talking to someone who has been around, done a lot, and will tell you what they actually think.

No fixed agenda

You bring what's on your mind. We go from there. Some sessions are focused, some are exploratory. Both are useful.

People navigating something real.

The career zigzagger

You've taken an unconventional path and you're not sure what to do with it or where it goes next. You need someone who gets that non-linear is not the same as lost.

The expat figuring it out

You moved abroad or you're thinking about it and the career and life questions get complicated fast. I've lived it. I can help you think it through.

The tech person at a crossroads

Engineer, PM, designer you're good at what you do but something feels off. You need someone who understands the industry and won't give you generic advice.

People who feel like they're on the wrong script

You're not sure you want the default path the corporate ladder, the safe choices, the life everyone told you to want. Good. Let's talk about what else is possible.

"Joel is one of the most intuitive and empathetic people I have ever worked with. He is driven and detail-oriented, and can hold a vision for the big picture at all times. I often felt inspired working with Joel due to his willingness to approach problems with curiosity and creativity."
